By Monisha Rey, Clinician @ Pathways

The students of the Pathways'' P.A.L.S community service club participated in the Morristown Habitat for Humanity ground breaking on Thursday October 24th. The students were very excited to be a part of the beginning stages of this new home.

Youth members played a major role in assisting with the construction. They helped with shoveling, raking and clearing out debris. Some students were able to cut wood and use sealant foam to ensure a strong foundation.

The site manager was very appreciative of our help and was pleased with our work.

As the day progressed, the students helped set up for the press conference which included the CEO of Morristown Habitat for Humanity. During this time the students were able to hear the heartfelt stories of the recipients and get a better understanding of the true meaning of Habitat for Humanity. The mayor of Passaic County Hector Carlos Lora was a special guest and interviewed the students. The students expressed feeling 'empowered' and 'recognized' for making a difference.
