Each summer Pathways provides a comprehensive free recreational program to youth ages 13-18 years old who reside in Carteret.

Typically half of these participants are incoming freshman.

This program runs Monday through Thursday for five weeks during the summer months. Programming includes daily team building and self-esteem building group activities, sports, games, creative arts and a nutritious hot lunch. In addition to the daily programming, there are weekly recreational and community services trips. These trips may include roller-skating, bowling, Six Flags, Cheesequake State Park and movies. Community Service trips have included local food pantries, beach clean ups, working with young children, visiting the elderly and other community based activities. While all the clinical staff is employed during the summer, we compliment the professional staff with three young adult counselors who have graduated from Carteret High School. These young adults plan and run activities, but they also serve as role models, mentors and inspiration.

We know that if these youth were not participants in the summer program, they would be on the streets, but instead, they return to program again and again. Registration occurs in the spring and is on a first come, first serve basis- spots fill quickly.
