Instructor: Josh Collins

Description: The purpose of this class is to review the common interventions in substance use and co-occurring treatment. Socialization towards the model or being able to explain the underlying concepts of how what we do in sessions and groups helps is an essential but often overlooked facet of the work we do. Participants will get a basic understanding of second and third-generation cognitive behavioral therapies such as CBT, DBT, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy. Skills from them that can be brought into individual sessions and groups will demonstrated and practiced. Psychoeducation, group process, and motivational interviewing will briefly be touched upon as interventions.
