The training provides an overview of the concepts and study of Cultural Competency from a strength-based perspective. Participants will review concepts related to Worldview & Mindset as they reflect on their personal level of cultural competence. Participants will be introduced to the concept and study of Cultural Humility as an alternative to the traditional constructs of “competency”. Participants will develop an understanding of the reasoning and benefits of a culturally competent organizational structure with a focus on client management and service delivery that considers culture in all aspects of assessment, treatment, care and discharge. Participants will engage in practical learning by application of skills and techniques while experiencing a culturally competent training approach that models strategies to identify and build on personal and professional cultural assets. Trainer uses an experiential model of learning to include lecture, demonstration, case studies, and individual and small group interaction, to stimulate participants’ engagement and practical learning.
