Anger DVD 28 minutes In time anger becomes self-hate; a buffer/mask against feelings; a defense against shame. The client momentarily feels righteously indignant, morally superior and a sense of power. For some, anger excitement is a way to get high. Others walk through life letting anger solve their problems - they do not know where the anger begins - it's just there. As with other addictions, anger can be a build up of tolerance, loss of control, negative consequences and an inability to stop. Like the alcoholic, the anger junkie displays a Jekyll and Hyde personality. Calm and controlled one minute and out of control one second later. Anger has immediate and long-term consequences - loss of jobs, financial repercussions, broken relationships, personality deprivation, and for some, jail and prison. Beginning with an explanation of the various types and forms of anger, Claudia moves through the many faces of anger including: Passive Aggressive Behavior - Blaming - Sarcasm/Caustic Remarks - Guerrila Humor - Verbal Abuse - Blind Rage - Anger with Authority - Depression - Retaliatory Anger - Isolation - Anger as an Excuse - Use of Medicators. The viewer is then guided through a recovery process offering simple steps designed to act as a self-help tool that can be used each day in recovery.
