Saint Peter’s Opioid Task Force Program Is 2018 Tree of Hope Recipient

Lisa Laitman to be Recognized as Middlesex County Recovery Champion.

Wellspring Center for Prevention will be celebrating the 2018 National Recovery Month by dedicating its “Tree of Hope” to Saint Peter’s Hospital Opioid Task Force. The “Tree of Hope” is awarded annually to an organization that promotes recovery from addiction.

A ceremony to recognize the program will take place on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, 4:30 p.m. outside of Saint Peter’s University Hospital’s Emergency Department off Easton Avenue and Park Boulevard in New Brunswick.

The Saint Peter’s Opioid Task Force initiative is comprised of members of senior hospital leadership, physicians, nursing, emergency services, and pharmacy operations within Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, in tandem with resource-sharing partnerships with community groups. The task force has identified areas of need and action items including education, community engagement, Non-narcotic alternatives to pain management, and the provisioning of resources to hospital staff, and the community. As part of this initiative, Saint Peter’s has hosted “The Opioid Epidemic: A Perspective on Addiction” events as well as school-based forums.

The event will also feature the recognition of Lisa Laitman as the 2018 Recovery Champion. Ms. Is being recognized for going “above and beyond” to foster recovery in the community. Ms.Laitman, M.S. Ed., LCADC is Director of Rutgers’ ADAP (Alcohol & Other Drug Assistance Program).

Wellspring’s annual Tree of Hope campaign is designed to raise the consciousness of our neighbors to the fact that addiction is an illness from which many do recover, and to celebrate those recoveries. This annual event is one of the agency’s primary fundraising vehicles and supports their confidential information and referral Helpline, which helps over 800 individuals and families annually to begin their journey of recovery.
