The workshop Understanding Substance Abuse though a Family Systems Lens will help advance practicing clinicians to identify multiple levels of intervention within The Ecological Paradigm. This workshop will teach clinicians how to see substance use as one of the many imbalances of power and to expand their lens by tracking and mapping the substance use symptoms in the family by using Genograms. It will teach participants how to identify the imbalance of power by looking at the interplay between individuals, families, and their communities. Practitioners will gain the necessary skills to approach their clients from a renewed knowledge base.
