This class will introduce the concepts of mindfulness and self-compassion. Tools around meditation and adapting it to recovery will be explored. Buddhist psychology and its presence in addiction recovery will be highlighted. Specific work and exercises around self-compassion will be introduced. Finally, the importance of self-management for professionals in this field will be reviewed. Work from Kristin Neff, Tara Brach, and compassion focused therapy will be utilized.
